Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

In Victorian London, Henry Jekyll is a kind and benevolent gentleman doctor obsessed with the thought of “liberating” mankind by separating the Good and Evil aspects of the human soul, convinced this could unleash unlimited potential for good in the world (“Now, if these two selves could be separated from each other, how much freer the good in us would be. What heights it might scale. And the so-called evil, once liberated, would fulfill itself and trouble us no more“).

After a long series of experiments using himself as the guinea pig, Dr. Jekyll finally produces a serum that unleashes his dark side. Imbibing this concoction provokes a sudden, horrific metamorphosis, transforming him into Edward Hyde, a pure embodiment of uninhibited animalistic instincts capable of committing unthinkable deeds.

When Dr. Jekyll uses a second potion to reverse the transformation, he feels a measure of guilt and remorse for Mr. Hyde’s violent actions, but he becomes increasingly addicted to his darker alter ego, craving that intoxicating feeling of lust and licentiousness.

With each manifestation, Hyde becomes increasingly grotesque and barbaric, until finally Jekyll loses all control over the situation and begins to spontaneously transform into Hyde even without touching the serum…
