Beyond the Door III

The theoretical final chapter in an alleged trilogy which also includes “Beyond the Door” (1974) and the Mario Bava-inspired “Shock” (1977), this Jeff Kwitny film quickly reveals itself as a modestly entertaining production in which every trite cliché regarding the Antichrist is idiotically thrown into an incongruous train setting, featuring the classic runaway train – “possessed” in this case.

As usual, producer Ovidio G. Assonitis tries everything possible to lend an international air to the movie – and is basically successful as far as that goes, but the fact remains that beyond a couple of evocatively gloomy settings and a few good handmade special effects, we still have to contend with a screenplay that’s painfully bad, to say the least (the protagonist uses a ridiculous ploy to avoid falling into Satan’s clutches), not to mention an ill-suited cast that simply doesn’t cut it.

Forgettable.
