Primitive
In other words, we're talking about a considerable span of time encompassing the totality of all species belonging to the "Homo" genus, starting with their Australopithecus progenitors and continuing all the way to anatomically modern "Homo sapiens" who emerged around 300,000 years ago in Africa (not to mention closely related hominids such as Neanderthals and Denisovans).
In addition to stories actually set in a prehistoric past, this Tag will also include some films with contemporary or even futuristic settings (e.g., "Planet of the Apes" - 1968), provided that they feature primitive humans who fit the stereotypical stone-age image and play a significant role in the film.
