Jeepers Creepers

Trish and her brother Darry are driving home from college along a dusty road through the Florida countryside when they have a close encounter with a black, rattletrap truck that seems to come out of nowhere. Tailgating and honking insistently, the menacing vehicle finally rams them, running them off the road before speeding away.

Once they recover from their understandable fright, the siblings get back on the road. When it seems the terrifying experience is behind them, they pass the same ominous truck parked near a dilapidated church, and the hulking driver, in a rumpled trench coat and broad-brimmed hat, is dumping what appears to be a blood-stained body bag down a drainage pipe.

Concerned that someone may be in mortal danger, Darry insists on going back to investigate (“You know that’s what we should do“). They arrive, and he thinks he hears something in the stinking, rotting pipe. When he decides to climb down, Trish warns him: “You know the part in scary movies where somebody does something really stupid and everybody hates them for it? This is it“.

Turns out she was right. Dead right.
