Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity

Long-winded trash-fest in the cheesy sci-fi vein typical of the films produced by the Charles Band factory, “Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity” puts a titillating spin on the premise of hunting humans for sport (a fairly popular thread in 1980’s sci-fi, but one that actually dates back to the great 1932 screen classic “The Most Dangerous Game”).

The film’s meager budget is obvious from its bare-bones, recycled locations, and the director-slash-producer-slash-screenwriter fights a noble but vain battle to make the most of those highly limited funds, relying as much as possible on veteran effects-meister John Carl Buechler’s eye-catching creatures. Half-hearted attempts at comedy, the thinnest possible relationship between cause and effect, and laughable character motivations do little to disguise the fact that the whole film is really just a flimsy excuse to have three busty babes who are apparently allergic to clothing frolic around on screen.

Even if there’s nothing particularly risqué here (a diffuse eroticism is inescapable with the “de rigueur” display of breasts of various sizes and shapes and little else…), the very idea of a couple of lovely lasses piloting a spaceship in bikinis or making their way half-naked through a (cardboard) jungle amidst deadly traps and horrific aliens (taking a page from the recently released “Predator“?) will certainly be received with utmost joy and delight by dyed-in-the-wool fans of exploitation.

Top scene: The voyeuristic android servant childishly bickering with his by-the-book colleague (‘I’m going to inform the master.’ ‘Tattletale!’).
